More information.

PICKING UP / DROPPING OFF BY CAR in Bratislava:
Arriving by car to pick up, there is a 15 minute waiting zone behind a barrier. You get the ticket from the machine upon arrival and this lets you out within 15 minutes. You can continue to go around and around as often as you want. Occasionally, this barrier has been up permanantly so waiting longer than 15 minutes is possible but not a certainty.

Driving to AUSTRIA from Bratislava:

Travelling to AUSTRIA (Wien/Vienna/Lake Neusiedl/Burgenland) from this airport and you wish to use the motorway/autobahn route you will need:

(1) a Slovakian motorway sticker for the D2 part of the journey. The Slovak/Austrian border crossing at "Jarovce" requires you have a motorway sticker for Slovakia. A map below shows you how to avoid this.
It is a 'rip off' if you are travelling to Austria as this is only a small part of the motorway (D2) that you will use. To AVOID this Slovak motorway toll cross the border at "BERG" instead - when you drive along the main drag (Einsteinova) from the airport to the border, follow the signs for route "61" which will allow you to cross the border into Austria without risking a fine in Slovakia.

The 61 route will take you directly in front of the AU PARK shopping center in Bratislava and allow you to travel into Austria by car without risking being fined on the D2 Jarovce crossing. If you are only using Bratislava as a route to Austria and are driving, I would suggest taking this route to avoid a possible fine by the Slovak police.

See map - from airport follow signs to WIEN, but LEAVE the main carraigeway in Bratislava just after the "Pristavny Most" bridge exit, following signs for "61".
Stay on this road until you drive past the Au Park center. This gets you to Austria for FREE, toll free and no police fine. In Austria, head for KITTSEE and rejoin the A6 to Vienna/Burgenland.

cheers

(2) If Driving on the Austrian Autobahn, and Austrian "Vignette" (Toll sticker). Depending on your stay, you pay a different price - current prices can be found (in English) here:

Beat Airport Prices and Airport Boredom:

The GREAT things about this airport is it is extremely close to the AVION Shopping Park (which has an IKEA + resturant at it).

For all you money savers out there, this is actually within walking distance (15-20 minutes) if the weather is fine, or costs €0.50 (2011 price) with either the "61" or "96" bus which takes around 3 minutes.

Getting to AUSTRIA using Public Transport:

If you wish to catch a train to Austria you will need to get to a railway station of which there are two to choose from depending on where you wish to go inside Austria...

For Vienna, catch a train from the Hlavná stanica (Central Railway Station).
For Northern Burgenland (Lake Neusiedl / Parndorf / Eisenstadt etc) catch a train from the Petržalka Railway Station as this is MUCH quicker (and cheaper than going to Vienna and then back to Burgenland).

Regardless of where in Austria you are heading, everyone must take the 61 bus to Hlavná stanica (Central Railway Station) to start with. Those travelling to Burgenland, then take the 93 bus to Petržalka station, where you catch trains to Burgenland.

Journey times by bus:
1) Airport to Hlavná stanica = 25 mins.
2) Hlavná stanica to Petržalka = 20 mins
3) Airport to Petržalka = (20+25) = 45 mins.

Buses are much cheaper than taxis around Bratislava, but of course are longer and less comfortable - you pays your money and takes your choice.

Bratislava airport very nice indeed.
Shiny new.
Still remember when FR used to call it 'Bratislava Vienna'...

Extra info:

The airport has one terminal – the original terminal A, built in 1970 was demolished in January 2011 and replaced by the new terminal A (completed in July 2012), serving departures and arrivals. Arrivals terminal B, built in 1994, and arrivals terminal C, built in 2006, are both now disused as the second part of the new terminal A has housed all arrivals since its completion. A new control tower was added in the 1990s. A new building linking the departures terminal with arrival terminal B was finished in November 2008 and houses different Slovak travel agencies.
