Use of phones in flight mode

Post by Jasmine-de-paul on Wed 28 Apr 2010 - 10:10

Hey all

Does anyone know if you are allowed on Ryanair flights to use phones (iphone) in flight mode? - all calling, roming and call features are disabled and you can use it to watch videos or listen to music in the ipod function?

Have seen folk with laptops out but i have never flown with Ryanair b4?
thanks

Hello there,
Cellphones cannot be used, not even in Flight Mode.
You must switch off your phone and only turn it on after you land.

Umm, no ?

You are alowed to use electronics after the seatbelt sign has been turned off.

Yes, it's true. You can use laptops, MP3 / Multimedia portable players, but you can't use a phone. Not even in flight mode.
I've made 12 flights with Ryanair and in all of them, the message was clear. No cellphones, not even in flight mode.
Cheers

you can use mobile phones in normal mode as long as the plane gives you the possibility to make calls wile airborne. in ryanair you have a phone on / off sign inside most of the 737s. see the image here : http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/runway-girl/Ryanair%204.jpg
the only time it is really dangerous to use any electronic device ( mp3 , mobile phone, etc ) is during refuelling. During take of or landing you are also not allowed to use them to increase safety.

The mobile phone system is currently switched OFF.

So currently, all mobile phones, even those in flight mode must remain switched OFF until you reach the main terminal building
