Ryanair welcomes cut to Cypriot airport charges

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, welcome the announcement of lower airport charges at Paphos and Larnaca Airport, by the Cypriot Government and Hermes Airport Ltd, which will encourage tourism growth and new routes at Paphos and Larnaca Airports.

Ryanair currently operates four Larnaca routes from Brussels, Barcelona, Bologna and Dusseldorf and will examine the new lower charges and contact Hermes Airport Ltd to explore further growth opportunities.

Ryanair’s Director of New Route Development, Ken O’Toole said:

“Ryanair welcomes the announcement of lower costs at Paphos and Larnaca Airports and congratulates the Cypriot government, and Hermes Airport Ltd, for their focus on delivering new routes, new passengers and opening up new markets to Cyprus.

Cyprus must break free of its dependency on high cost Tour Operators and the UK market by lowering costs to ensure it attracts many thousands of new visitors from currently un-served markets and countries.

Ryanair is Europe’s largest airline, with the widest route network and a unique ability to deliver large volumes of new passengers. We are discussing the new measures with Hermes Airport Ltd and anticipate introducing more low fare routes which will deliver thousands more high spending tourists and create and sustain thousands of local jobs.”
