Kerry as PSO

Post by atoutprix on Tue 13 May 2008 - 16:30

The Irish government is offering PSO (Public Service Obligation) contracts to provide air services on regional routes in Ireland.
Ryanair has been offered the route from Dublin to Kerry, three daily return ... from 22 July, and for 3 years.

No decision yet by Ryanair ...
PSO means State subsidy; it's a perfectly legal process, allowed by the EU on routes which are necessary and in the public interest but would otherwise not be flown because uneconomic.
Ryanair was rather against that system when confronted to it in Italy ...
We'll soon know !
