PRIVACY.

Post by APBI on Thu 9 Aug 2012 - 15:01

Hi,

Can someone tell me if airline ticket purchases are confidential? Will Ryanair tell anyone if I have purchased a ticket on a certain route and date? Who can have access to that info (spouse, police, courts?).

Thanks

Yes, that is fine, but an Italian policeman knew my flight.

Thank you for your reply Autoprix. I just want to know how a policeman in Italy can learn which flight I will be boarding. Are Ryanair forced to give that info to any policeman? No judicial review here? If you can give me a private email I will let you know the details, I would like to talk to the Ryanair staff who handled this.

Thanks!

I have given you all the information I have. Sorry, I am unable to do more.
Further information should be sought at Ryanair's.
(This forum is made by aviation enthousiasts who care for Ryanair, not by Ryanair's personnel).

I am pretty sure that police officers can ask passenger lists for severe criminal offenses. Your credit card can be checked as well if you made a booking. No idea what problems you have, but if you want to get out of the country, I would take a car if I were you...

danieln, you do not need to have committed a crime to have a problem with this. In my case I had an argument with a local (by phone, no consequences or even bad behaviour) and the local took advantage of being at home and managed to persuade the police to seek and then provide information on my future flights. I do not believe that is right, the police can certainly do that but that only should happen under certain conditions, not just because you have a friend in the police, for example.

I am pretty sure the authorities would need a court order to request information from RYR or any other airline.
