could this cause an issue?

Post by glin89 on Sat 9 Feb 2013 - 21:44

Hi, i have booked flights for myself and 3 friends and have put one down as Chris, however his passport says Christopher.

I am hearing mixed opinions to this and have tried calling ryanair to be on hold for ages.

Would this be an issue, thanks very much in advance

Hi - for peace of mind and to not spoil the party, my advice would be to keep trying and make contact with Ryanair by phone, and explain the situation to them. I am a great supporter of the airline and have made many flights with no problems to report, however, all you have to do is meet the 'wrong' person who will make an issue of the discrepancy. A few months ago on the route Eindhoven to Dublin, I saw a man being denied boarding because his check-in document had his first name as Paddy and his passport read Patrick! Not quite the same, perhaps, but he had the same details on documents for his flight from Dublin to Eindhoven and there was no problem. Despite the fact that most people who are christened Christopher are called Chris, I wouldn't take the risk!
