Woman dies on Ryanair Flight

Bank manager Davina Tavener, 47, collapsed 20 minutes before the flight landed.
A mum-of-two died on a Ryanair flight to Lanzarote after she suffered heart problems while in the toilets.

Davina Tavener, 47, collapsed 20 minutes before the flight landed - but when fellow passengers tried to revive her they were shocked to discover there was no life-saving medical equipment on board.

Once on the ground, paramedics rushed on board with resuscitation apparatus but the bank manager - who was on the flight with her 52-year-old husband Andrew - never regained consciousness and was pronounced dead on the plane.

At an inquest into Mrs Tavener's death a coroner urged airline bosses to review their rules over carrying medical equipment after it emerged there was no legal requirement to have a defibrillator on short haul flights.

Coroner Alan Walsh said: ''If you are trapped in an aircraft without access to any other facilities that authority needs to consider the equipment to be carried on these aircraft whether short haul or long haul.

"It is difficult to know if any equipment would have assisted because she was in the toilet some 5-10 minutes prior so do not know how long she was unresponsive."
