TRS : Trieste - Ronchi dei Legionari (Italy)

The Trieste airport is officially called "Aeroporto del Friuli Venezia Giulia", named "Pietro Savorgnan de Brazzà", and is situated at "Ronchi dei Legionari", near Monfalcone.
Four names for one (rather small) airport !
At present, the only scheduled FR flights are to London Stansted. From end of March/beginning of April 2009, there will be direct FR flights also to Birmingham (England), Charleroi -Brussels South (Belgium), Cagliari (Sardinia, Italy).
Ryanair flights to Venezia Treviso are sometimes diverted to Trieste if Treviso is blocked by fog.

How to go to ...
There is no train going straight to the airport, only roads.
The bus station is on the right when leaving the arrival hall - you have to buy a ticket at an automatic selling machine in the arrival hall - or at the Tourist Information office.

There are buses to
- Trieste (33 km)
- Gorizia (20 km)
- Udine (40 km)
- Monfalcone railway station (Trenitalia)- 5 or 6 km away.
Monfalcone is on the railway line Bologna - Mestre (Venezia) - Monfalcone - Trieste
and on the line Trieste - Monfalcone - Gorizia - Udine - Treviso - Mestre

Taxi's are usually present when a flight arrives.

The terminal :
The arrivals and the departures are on the ground level (when in front of the building, arrival is on the left, departure on the right).
There are, from left to right : a vending machine for bus tickets; a small post office; the car hire offices; a bank; the tourism information office, a gift shop cum newspapers; the check-in desks.
On the second level, there is a bar/self service restaurant, with a full view of the apron.
