Total price ... & Electron !

Post by atoutprix on Fri 5 Dec 2008 - 8:20

There has been a upgrading of the booking system last night, and the total price of the chosen flight is now shown on the first screen.
Ryanair is thus complying with the EU regulations.

To be honest, I don't see any difference compared to yesterday.

In my opnion Ryanair is still not complying to the EU-rules:

- Insurance and luggage have to be opted out. The law says it should be the other way around. You should for example have no insurance by default.
- There is still a Visa payment fee of 5 euro's per one way. This is not correct as there is no other payment possibility. The 5 euro's should therefore be included in the main price.
- Taxes and fees are not explained. You don't know what "fees" you are paying for.

insurance is default but the other two points are wrong. you can pay using visa electron which is free of charge ( i know that because i have a visa electron just to use with ryanair ) and fees are very well explained when you are in the "confirm flight" screen:

Here is a breakdown of the taxes and fees
that apply to your purchase.

Coming Back (Regular Fare):
11.81 EUR Tax and Fees
5.99 EUR Insurance/Wheelchair Levy/Aviation Insurance

17.80 EUR Total Taxes

Just to add to Master_Dns posting. I don't know many Airlines in Europe that are as transparent as Ryanair about taxes! They really do a fine job. All you have to do is open your eyes and read the small print!

A lot of Airlines only show the total figure of taxes (no breakdown at all) plus a fuel surcharge listed separately. THAT is not complying to EU rules!

Atoutprix, I have the impression that you are Belgian. Where did you get this Visa-electron card? I have searched it in many banks, and I simply don't know where to get it...!

I am indeed a Belgian, but I don't have a Visa Electron, and I don't know how or where one can get one in Belgium.

Hi,

Go to www.entropay.com and get yourself a Virtual Visa Debet Card (this card is also accepted by Ryanair as a Visa Electron card.
Be sure you will use this card in British pound (GBP), not USD or EUR. Otherwise the card will not work.

Succes...!

Halifax in the UK offer Electron cards. I got one after applying online. It's easy. It's an ultra basic card but saves a bloody fortune.

Hi all,

One question about the Entropay Card...

Does anybody know why the Entropay Card (Visa Electron/Debit) only works by Ryanair in British pound (GBP) and not in EUR or USD?

Thanks.

The Post Office in the UK also sells Electron cards in both GBP and EUR. there are various fees involved, but if you can't get the card in your home country and you're coming to the UK anyway, it might be worthwhile
