shortest FR flight?

Post by Rich00cap on Thu 5 Mar 2009 - 20:57

Hi all

There has been much discussion on here about the longest FR flight, Luton-Fes being mine when it existed, but what is and what has ever been the shortest? I remember once flying home from Oostende to STN and the Captain announced the flight time would be 22 minutes!!

My personal shortest one was from Madrid to Santander, 55 minutes in schedule. We moved out from parking late, 10+ minutes to the runway (Madrid is very large airport), then departure really late. We arrived exactly at time so we were about 25 minut in air? More or less :-) I think something from Dublin would be similar, DUB-ORK, or DUB-LPL Wink

I Think indeed that Oostende - Stansted used to be the shortest Ryanair flight so far.

Sad that the route does not exist anymore... Strange as well, as I hears that a lot of British people took the flight, especially to buy tobacco products in Belgium.

I think the flight Belfast (City)-Glasgow (Prestwick) or Londonderry-Glasgow (Prestwick): it's just flying over some water Smile

Ostend-Stansted was indeed very short - 105 nM - but is no more.
Liverpool - Belfast City is 130 nM.
Dublin - Cork is amongst the shortests : 125 nM.
But Prestwick- Belfast City, as you said, is only 70 nM !
(There is no Londonderry - Prestwick on the timetables for the moment).

1 nM = 1 nautical mile = 1853 meters

Sorry, my mistake - but it is called "Derry" on the Ryanair booking system.
And LDY - PIK is 92 nM.

When flying from GRX to EMA we had to land at Bristol because a lad took poorly onboard, dropped him off then continued to East Midlands.Does that count?

I took my shortest ever flight this week from DUB-MAN. I think we were only in the air for about 35 mins. the flight was so short that it was almost bearable

I flew from Madrid to Valencia, we stayed only 30 minutes in the air, no in-flight service. I did it with Iberia for my work but Ryanair also operates this route.

I have made 5 x DUB-ORK-DUB.
In my experience :
Dublin - Cork is 30 minutes +/- 1 min !
Cork - Dublin is also on average 30 min +/- 5 min
(from beginning of take-off run to end of landing run, not including the taxi time).
