Laser beam aimed at Ryanair cockpit in Austria: police

A laser was aimed at the cockpit of a Ryanair plane as it approached landing at Klagenfurt airport late Monday, an incident that could have blinded the pilots, Austrian police said Tuesday.
The plane from Frankfurt, which was carrying 34 passengers and five crew members, landed however without any further problems, police said.
"The beam, which was green, was aimed specifically at the cockpit," police spokesman Peter Leber said.
He added that it had come from a location about 10 kilometres (six miles) from the airport, near the town of Grafenstein-Thon, but that there was still no trace of the suspects.
A laser beam cannot only blind pilots but also help guide surface-to-air systems, experts say.

GSE-MRS spring 2008 - 15 pax! Very Happy

Regarding the laser incident, it's unbelievable that people can do such things, total crazyness.

I know that it was huge problem somewhere in (I think) USA. Some crazy person was doing it permanently and police was unable to catch him.

Hate all this crap with people thinking it's "great" to shine lasers at aircraft. Not such a major problem here in Éire, but it is quite bad in certain parts of the UK. On the load factor question, my last flight MAN-DUB had 17 people on board. Lovely and quiet. Also, I had about 7 rows behind me and 3/4 in front all to myself.

just flown from manchester 2 dublin with only 8 passengers on board, by the looks of other loads on this route, it is not making profit, would it save ryanair money to scrap the route.

Manchester is one of Ryanair's biggest/busiest routes. Two bad load factors does not mean anything. I fly this route very regularly, and it is almost a guaranteed full load every time.
