Visa Electron - Free at the moment...
Hi all,
Whilst reading through the list of fees I noticed it said...
Visa Electron - As a special offer to Visa Electron card holders, Ryanair, for a limited period only, will not apply a Debit Card charge
Might this be the end of avoiding card fees in the near future?

Hi,
The EU has said that airlines advertising flights - must include all the taxes, fees, and charges into the price you see.
Ryanair have been very clever, and bags are a extra - as you can go with 0 bags and check-in online? £/€0.00
Same with the Visa Electron charge, as you can get one - it is a extra.
I can't get a Visa Electron, as they are not handed out to everyone. And my bank offers Maestro's. Like most...
And usually, a bag is needed.
But hey - Ryanair are always cheaper than any other airline, even with these charges.

Everyone can get a Visa Electron card! Here's how to do it: surf to www.entropay.com and make yourself a virtual Visa Electron Card. After you created your account, you will get a virtual Visa Electron number, with security code ad everything :-)
A lot of Ryanair fans use this system, and it has saved me a lot of money by now.
Beware!! If you make the account at www.entropay.com, make sure you do it in GBP, NOT in Euro!! It works only with GBP-activated cards.

1. This has been stated on the Ryanair homepage already for quite a long time.
2. There will always have to be a way to get free flights or Ryanair can't ever advertise free flights again.
I am quite sure they will always keep one form of payment free of charge. If they don't, every single fare of 0.01 € including taxes would not be a "free flight" anymore. Advertising standard authorities would stop them doing their free flight adverts and Ryanair would lose one of their strongest weapons. Ryanair management is not so stupid to do something like that!

Exactly - otherwise it isn't a extra; like the online check-in.

Danieln
an interesting site for Electron but they seem quite hefty account charges for not paying RA (or any other carrrier) booking fees
Account Fees
I have an Electron card specifically for flights - no problem in applying via Halifax; http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/easycash.asp

That's even better! But I think you need you to have an account at Halifax to get the Visa Electron card, en to get an account, you need to have a valid address in the UK...
I think the Entropay-system is still quite good for customers living in other countries. As you said, there are fees. But to load let's say 20 euro's to your Entropay-account, you have to pay a 1 euro fee, wich is much cheaper than the credit card fees at Ryanair.

So with the Electron 5% fee to load funds to your Electron card, and if a one way Ryanair flight costs say €100 the choice is;
- pay €5 to Electron or
- pay €5 to Ryanair as a credit card fee?
Looks like Electron is only worth using if your one way Ryanair flight costs less than €100? thanks

Re: Visa Electron - Free at the moment...
It is €5 per passenger/per flight. Subsequently, €10 for a return. Still all these charges (which are confusing and annoying) still are the cheapest flights by miles.

Re: Visa Electron - Free at the moment...
When you book a flight for 3 euros now, the flight will cost 3 + 5 = 8.
With entropay it will only cost 3 euro (ok + 4,95%).

Hi,
Hot news form the internet!!!
It is now possible to use your Entropaycard in EURO by Ryanair bookings.
First you have only one option to choose GBP but now you can choose EURO.
One thing you have to make a new account. But it saves your exchange rate!!!
Have a good weekend.
